Raaz Reboot - A critical review by Devsheel Gaurav
At time I wonder as if it a movie or a operating system or any software program, Raman Raghav 2.0 and now Raaz Reboot. However, unlike serious movie buffs, who believes in sequel, let me warn you that the new series of ghotic movie Raaz can quite disappoint you. The beginning of movie is rather slow and could not justify the timeline of the movie by ending up a hasty and clumsy climax. The total timing of movie is approx. 2hours and 20 minutes. The slow paced first part of the movie takes a galloping leap in second half and the final 20 minutes remains for end of the climax. There is nothing new in the movie except a connection between rest of the movies like 1920 and 1920 returns. In fact few scenes of movie seem copy pasted from them. Same situations, same possessed girl and same exorcism ritual reminds old ghotic movies. There ar only songs in the movie mark their presence "Lo Maan Liya humn" written by Kausar Munir, sung by Arjit Singh and "Raaz aakhen Teri" composed by Rashmi Virag , and sung by Arjit did justice to hum for few minutes or hours but does not leave a lasting impression. Location is again an isolated mansion similar to 1920. However the cinematography location of Romania is worth praising but for movies like this not required very much and director would have saved money shooting the same here in India. Story is seems so boring that even if take a nap in between it seldom matters. Imran Hashmi did not disappoint audience and did what he is good at. And yes, you guessed it right but more than just smooching and hooking up with someone's wife, he acted well and balanced the movie. More than half of the movie you keep guessing that the spirit would be a feminist but it's otherwise.
Kirti Kharbanda as Shaina does a wonderful job and proved that she has got the talent where as Rehan Khanna often acted dumb and fails to bring expression unlike Arjun Rampal. Emraan Hashmi played the role of perverted protagonist who accidentally dies and turns into poltergeist. As a writer Vikram Bhatt just tried to follow the trend of B'town and instead of movie he made a remake of 1920. A sincere piece of advice to Girish Dhamija the dialogue writer of the movie, that he should work a little hard before plunging into serious and notable work else everyone is free to do what he feels like. Jeet Ganguli's music is worth praising. And not to miss Manoj Soni's cinematography is OK type. Other than big mansion and beautiful scenery of Romania there is nothing worth to watch and recommend it.
