Thank you for being nice to me
Ever since I attained serenity in life, I realized the importance of being nice. Though not everyone you come across may have the same ideology. And at time it is rather difficult to find people around indeed good enough to bank upon. Usually acting weird, stupid and ferocious believed to be the traits of showing power over the others and suppressing them to serve your own axe to grind. However, the temperament to showcase power is inherited from our colonial past. Which was fumed by gosh idea of socialism with the blend of spiritual believe of "as you sow, so shall you reap." Despite of years of observations I never came across anyone, who has been proved the saying. In fact during the British reign it served as curse to the Indians, who kept on praying day and night with the deity, believing that some day everything will be fine. And god himself will incarnate to save them from atrocities of British. What else could be the reason that even a few handful people ruled over millions. The great 'White man theory' is the perfect example of how the British inculcated the idea of superiority over Indians. And before independence they left no stone unturned to ensure their reign again else put India at a devastated state.
Now when the British are gone years back, they left their malign administration culture here which is killing every possible innovation and novelty now and then. Remember how often we encounter a police officer taking bribe or doing malicious practices for earning some extra pounds. Thanks to our colonial gurus who developed such work ethics of being corrupt. During British time Indian were deploy for various security forces but they seldom got any good position in professional hierarchy. Even the pay grades kept so low that they could barely meet their needs. However they were assured that since they are serving the British kingdom, they have power to earn more money from various other means. And no longer they started pondering their fellow countrymen. They same tradition is flourishing since year. Similarly Railways and Postal services, the two major gifts from British were aimed to serve their own benefit than helping Indians for their upliftment.
In an interview congress M.P. Mr. Shashi Tharoor asked a foreign delegate (British) that why don't they teach colonial past in their history books. The delegate had no answer. Similarly, other than the administrative and monetary benefit it also paralyzed Indian mentality of 'sarve bhavantu sukhina, sarve jantu nirayamanya (सर्वे भवन्तु सुखिनः, सर्वे जन्तु निरायमया). It means that people no longer concerned about others but they are confined to friends with the benefit only. The shallow greed of power and money suffused human brain so badly that they don't even considers as human. In earlier days when shudra was considered as domestic slave for upper cast. When It became difficult for outsiders to spot them, they told them to tie a thick thread in their ankle, so that the new comer can easily spot them and they could not them even by mistake. In the similar fashion today's work culture and ethics prevail, for seniors and bosses have separate water closet where as for commoners have separate. I remember an incident when Ratan tata once visiting his one of his factory, he noticed that commoners water closet is very dirty and it seldom cleaned whereas for seniors their water closet was very tidy. Mr. Tata told to change the reservation plates from one another. Now the officers realized the value of equality and tidiness. He also told to practice this exercise on every fortnight basis.
And that is what makes Tata a great entrepreneur and visionary.
Gandhi ji once quoted, "Treat someone as you want to be treated yourself." Hope it will create a buzz and someday fastidious people will understand of being nice to others.
