A tube light that doesn’t work
A tube light that doesn’t work
Much awaited Eid gift turned useless due to over melodrama and subsequently a poor opening on festival day, it seems as audience forget to give Eidi to Bhai, yes you guessed it right. It’s tube light which only flickered but did not illuminate. At times I really wonder that did Salman really care what script demands? And does Kabir Khan not give any suggestions to his friend to make the necessary improvisation in his skills rather changing the entire script accordingly. In a nutshell, the actor does fall on the script at all. And if you have seen Salman’s previous movies, you can easily find the similarity and monotonous acting pattern that seldom deliver something new. You would have observed that even in serious scenes he cracks the joke, uses rustic language and much more. In an interview, once he said that he considers Govinda as a great actor but he truly follows his style, is a matter of surprise but that is what he actually does. Anyway coming back to the review of tube light, I am sure of one thing that even hardcore fan of Salman would have also been disappointed with the movie. And one should also think that even adding four Khans could not guarantee a blockbuster if you cannot deliver it diligently.
The movie revolves around a low IQ person whom people call, Tube Light. The movie begins with Salman Khan aka Laxman Singh Bisht’s(Tube Light) narrations about his parental history that usually nothing but a mockery of his parents. However, no clear sight of his parents appears for long and develop a great end note of explanation of demise of parents and the harmony that he develops with his younger brother. He has a beloved younger brother Bharat Singh Bisht (role played by Sohail Khan). After years of the great duo of brotherhood, Bharat Singh joins the Army to fight against China (Based on the historical background of Indo-sino war) leaving Laxman all alone. Bharat got injured and captured by Chinese soldiers. And expecting his brother's arrival to home and overcoming all the odds of believing and unbelieving Laxman finally meets his brother.
Despite being an adaption of Hollywood flick ‘Little Boy’ it also shares the same fortune as the Little boy has. And even the cameo of Shahrukh Khan as Goga Pasha, the magician could not save it. Released in 2015, the little boy could not do better and seeing the poor opening of Tubelight, the prediction of it can easily be made. The movie plots are not perfect and seem as they started the project and somehow wish to complete it. Since it’s Salman khan’s movie so I guess the role of rest of the artists is compromised to keep him in the main frame. Om Puri (Banne Chacha), Yashpal Sharma (Major Rajbir), Matin Rey (Gu Won) did justice with their role. Whereas, Zhu Zhu (Lini, Gu’s Mother) and Isha Talwar’s (Maya) did not get much attention and worked as filler. At time Salman tries to act like a low IQ person but he stops his efforts in a mid way. Even the facial expression of Salman does not go well with the scenes. Sohail Khan acts as a puppet and seldom has any good dialogue in the movie. In short, Salman is carrying the responsibility to get the movie a super hit but it badly disappoints audience. Barring two popular songs, ‘Sajan radio’ and ‘Kintu-parantu’ rest are hard to even buzz once you leave the theater.
