Even best buy (Retailer) invested 50,000 hour of training, to teach its
employees about windows 8. Over 40, 00,000 licenses were sold. Over
1,240,000,000 hour of public testing were made.
New
York Times wrote that windows 8 sales were disappointing. Microsoft blamed it
to PC companies for poor performance of windows 8. Fujitsu saw weak PC Sales in
2012 and according to them thanks to slow demand for windows 8. Earlier in 2012
ACER confirmed that Microsoft was a competitor and no more a partner. However
trend analyst confirms that it was a retaliate action to hit windows 8 over the
new launch of Microsoft’s tablet device SURFACE TABLET (Surface RT) to beat
Apple’s I –pod.
According
to GARTNER:- “Microsoft will only be in control of only 4% of the world wide
tablet market by 2012 and secure 3rd place after Apple’s iOS and
Google’s Android mobile operating System. However in the year 2013 Windows 8
can secure 11.3%”.
Analyst
said: - Microsoft seems to have a low percentage due to windows 8 launching a
bit late in the game.
Apple’s
CEO TIM Cook; (who took over the job from Steve Jobs) made some negative
comments about Microsoft’s windows 8. In regards to having a hybrid operating
system; cook refers to it as combining “A TOSTER & A REFRIGRATOR”.
In
the bigning of May; Microsoft proclaimed to make media center available via
windows 8 media center pack or the windows 8 pro packs after rumors about media
center being removed from windows 8 and the negative feedback that came from
it.
Linus
Torvalds; the father of Linux took a shot at windows 8 and stated that hackers
would eventually bypass windows 8’s secure boot feature. Microsoft’s decision
of introducing UEFI secure boot in windows 8 is going to make no significance
to the security.
Microsoft
decided to design a new logo for windows 8 to make better reflect Microsoft
Metro style and named METRO which later on (when already hit the RTM’s) after
discussion with important European partners they were told not to use the
worlds METRO any more rather windows 8 style UI.
Start
button was removed from windows 8. At the end of September Intel quoted that
windows 8 was being released before it was 100% ready and that Microsoft would
release updates after the fact to make things complete with operating system.
In
